SYLLABUS
Religion:
The children, through daily lessons, will be learning about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The children will learn to connect their daily experiences with the word of God, which will lay the foundation for faith development. They will also have the opportunity to host and attend chapel regularly.
Language Arts:

Each child will begin to use their fine motor skills to develop beautiful drawing skills and beginning penmanship. Reading skills will be taught daily but it is strongly recommended that you begin a nightly reading program with your child. Ten minutes a night will not only enhance your child’s ability to read and comprehend written words it will also allow you to monitor their progress and will provide enjoyment to both you and your child.
Math:
With math we will use a hands-on approach that will provide enrichment as well as a beginning understanding of basic mathematic concepts. Addition, subtraction, more than, less than, equals to, basic shapes, time, and money will all be terms and concepts that will be introduced this year.
Science and Social Studies:
In Science the children will be exploring and discovering components of life, earth and physical science. In Social Studies the children will learn about the people around us, the world that we live in, and how to be a good citizen.
Homework:
Homework is primarily used as communication to you as to what lessons and the objectives we will be learning during the coming week. It is not graded, but needs to be completed. Instructions will be provided for each homework task and parents should spend time going over each assignment with their child. Homework packets will be passed out each Monday and collected on Friday.
As you can see, this year will provide an enriched learning experience filled with many new concepts and skills. Please take the time to discuss each school day with your child. Ask questions and remember to give positive feedback. This year will be a challenging and exciting time for your child. Your love and constant interest in their activities will provide a solid foundation that will be vital to your child’s success.
I look forward to working in partnership with each of you to help your child grow and develop this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to see me daily after school. Or, you can phone the office and leave me a message and I will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Thank you and God bless.
